About a week ago, I spent my weekend farm sitting. For those of you who may not know completely what that is, it's when you look after someone's farm for them while they are unavailable for a certain time period. So my family and I set off to Underberg to stay in the farm house.

I must say that it was an experience that was well worth it. We live in a world where technology is a very high factor of importance. To go into the berg and not be able to have much contact with society was someone different. It felt as though everything was free. I didn't have to worry about checking for messages all the time, I didn't have to constantly update my status or constantly scroll through images of who knows what. The air was clearer and it was incredible to just relax and breathe.

I definitely think that if you ever get the chance to go into the berg or anywhere in the country side then you shouldn't take it lightly. It's going to be something that you're going to absolutely enjoy. Don't look at it as something that's negative by being isolated from society. Think of it as a way to clear your mind and focus on what's really important. I'm not saying that society and technology is bad in any way because it is definitely something good as it helps to keep us all connected but what I am saying is that it's good to take a break every now and then.

I understand that for some of you it's more difficult to get to a place such as I went to so here are a few pictures for you to see what you're missing out on.  Hopefully just looking at them will help to relax you ;)

If there's something I have learnt about meeting new people is that you can learn a lot just by knowing the type of music they like. I thought that because of this I would share with you my favourite songs at the moment because I feel like you don't really know me that well and maybe I should introduce myself... Hi I'm Kayleigh and these are my favourite songs (at the moment)

1. Make Me Feel Better ( Klingande Club Remix) - Alex Adair
This song is always that type of song I like to listen to while I am lying on my bed drawing something or writing on my laptop on a Sunday afternoon. It's very upbeat yet relaxing at the same time. It makes we want to dance but is also the type of song to inspire you to work. Kinda an in between song. Whenever I hear this song, I picture myself sitting by my window with the wind blowing whilst I draw in my visual journal.



2.  Bad Blood - Taylor Swift ft Kendrick Lamar
Everybody needs that song that is very upbeat and just wants you to leap up and dance like you really don't care or to blurt out the lyrics in maybe not the best key or pitch. This song has a lot of meaningful words that can relate to anyone going through a heartbreak of any kind. It makes you feel confident and to make you feel like you're in control over the issue. It's really inspiring.

Keeping in theme with my last post, I have 5 things that make me sad. Everyone has things that make us sad and all can be different. Sometimes it is good to have a good cry but it doesn't mean we should dwell on the past. Here are the 5 things that make me sad.


1. i n s u l t s
Insults are things that everyone has to deal with. Trust me when I say that I've had my fair share of insults being thrown at me. The only thing I can't understand is why they exist in the first place. I mean I completely understand that something must have possessed the person to say them (it's normally because they are jealous of you or they are struggling themselves and want a sense of power) my point is. There has to be a reason why they were created. I still have not figured it out and maybe this is the reason as to why I spent a lot of time thinking about it. Also sometimes it's hard to not believe them but I'm still learning. That's something we all need to learn because really, those insults are not true.


2. g o o d b y e s
Saying goodbye to someone you know you are going to miss is really quite difficult. When I spend a long time with someone or even a short time with someone I know well, I dread the time in which we have to part. The numerous times I have seen sad goodbyes at airports and restaurants and pretty much anywhere is enough to make me miss people even more. Although not all goodbyes are forever so I like to keep my hope.


3. s a d   m u s i c
Sad music is always going to be something that will make me want to cry. I'm a very emotional person and for me to listen to a highly emotional song that brings back sad memories is something that will require me to take a lot not to cry. It's also a love-hate relationship because I love the song but it makes me want to cry. It's confusing but I know that it makes me feel sad. I normally stay clear of these songs but when I need a good cry, the songs will be blasting throughout my house. Sometimes it's good to cry about things. Especially if you're a girl because we are very emotional people but if you don't like to cry then that's perfectly alright too.


4. b e i n g   a l o n e
Being alone is again both sad and happy. I am an introvert which means I draw energy from being alone. Some of you may also be one whereas the others are most probably extrovert which means you draw energy from being with other people. (I'm thinking about making a video or blog post on this, let me know if you'd like it) I am someone who will leave a crowded area to just be alone to gather some energy but I'm also an over thinker which can sometimes not be a good combo because I sometimes sit in my room to just gather some energy - as you do - but then if I sit for too long, I will over think myself into a bad mood. Fortunately it's not too often.


5. C r u e l t y
This is pretty much a given as it is pretty obvious. Cruelty to anything is something that really winds me up. If an animal is being hurt or unfairly treated, I become really upset and do whatever I can to prevent it from happening anymore. Animals share the world too and it's not fair for humans to take over and crush them along the way. I feel strongly about it and the same goes for humans. It disgusts me when I hear about  a human being being abused or hurt. Fortunately I haven't witnessed it because I'm not sure how I would act. Most like try to stop it in some way and call some one.



This may have been a bit of a morbid post for some of you because you'd rather not read about things that make me sad but for some people it'll be helping them. If I were to sum up the 5 things that make me happy, it would be a difficult thing to choose but here you go: 5 things that make me happy (Winter Edition)

1. b i r d s
At the moment it is exam season as well as winter season. Which means that I spend most of the day, sitting at my desk cuddled up in a blanket, studying. It's normally quite difficult but one day I was studying and suddenly heard a few tweets outside. Not from twitter but from actual birds. It was only a few birds that would tweet calmly every now and then. I realized that although I was working and doing something I don't particularly enjoy, I was still happy because of the great vibe and atmosphere the birds set. It was almost like a calming sensation and it relaxed me and enabled me to work a lot harder. This being said that it just made me feel as if the birds were especially happily tweeting for me.

2. c o f f e e & p o r r i d g e.
One of the things that I normally have is tea but since I've been needing that extra burst of energy recently with having to learn for exams, a cup of coffee is really comforting. The smell of it is even better. Just imagining the coffee warming your system and the feeling as it touches your lips is super satisfying. This morning I made some porridge for breakfast and while I was waiting, lightly sipping my coffee, the entire kitchen bloomed with the smell as it cooked. Whilst enjoying my coffee, the thought of having a delicious meal soon also made me feel warm inside. One of the best part is also the motion of sprinkling the topping on the porridge. The way the cinnamon falls on the porridge and the way the almonds lay in perfectly separate places.


3. p e o p l e
It may sound a little creepy but have you ever just sat in a restaurant and watched people outside the window? I love to watch a couple walking together holding hands and being all goofy together. A mother shout at her children to listen to her before crossing the road just because she loves them that much to not want them to get hurt. An old man walking with a cane and wrinkles of a life well lived. A group of teenagers messing with each other and laughing. The business man choosing which flowers to buy his wife. The girl who has most probably been out running with her little terrier running alongside her. The old, the young, The married, the single. The rich, the poor. They all have stories and that's what amazes me. I would not like to imagine a world without each and everyone of them because without them, life would be different.


4. t h i n g s
Things that are old and things that are new. Something that you can physically hold and look at. The fact that each thing has a different texture and sound. Some things we take for granted such as the pebbles on the ground. Some things we give too much attention to such as money and cell phones. Some were once an obsession but now lie dusty in one of our cupboards some where. Others are kept for the simple reason of being able to look back on a simpler time. Either or, each thing has a memory. Although these memories could be both positive and negative, the fact that it still contains a memory is what make me happy.


5. m u s i c
If you have watched any movie or video or gone to an event you will notice that the atmosphere would not be the same without the music. Music is very important and I will stand for it no matter what. Music has a way of creating a sad mood or a happy one or any mood you can think of. A movement we all do at some point when listening to music shows how much everyone loves it. Whether it's slightly tapping your foot or have a full on break dance. It's weird to think that every moment there are more and more songs being produced and played and sung everywhere in the world and there is still so much to hear. I could listen to the same song over and over and not get tired or I could spend hours listening to hundreds of new songs that I've never heard before. The feeling that you can slip on your headphones and disappear into a world of you and your thoughts is what makes me smile.
